Children Available:

Newborn infants primarily, and some, toddlers, and young children are available. Children are Mestizo, a blend of Spanish, Indian and European. Adoptions from Guatemala generally take six to twelve months to complete. It is possible to adopt from Guatemala without travel. Often parents do elect to travel to pick up their child. This is a short trip of only 4 or 5 days. Parents may visit their child during the adoption process.

Eligibility:

Guatemala is very flexible. Age to 50 years and prior divorce are acceptable. Parents over the age 50 may adopt. Guatemala allows adoption for families with children already in the family. Singles may adopt from Guatemala.

Services the Agency Provides:

	Assistance with immigration forms.
	Preparation of home study for Michigan families. We do accept home studies from licensed child placing agencies in other states.
	Supply necessary forms required for a Guatemalan adoption.
	Assistance with dossier preparation. Completed dossier sent to Guatemala.
	Coordination with attorneys in Guatemala to facilitate the adoption.
	Assistance with travel in country and hotel arrangements.
	Agency representative in country for general assistance and help with, completion of necessary paperwork including US Embassy forms required for child's visa.

Services in Guatemala:

	Translation of dossier.
	Locate a child and present to court all necessary documents.
	Representation at the US Embassy on your behalf.
	Foster care of the child. (Programs I and III)
	Care from pediatrician and immunizations are provided.
	Arrange for child's passport and visa to the United States.

General Information:

	All babies are placed in private foster care.
	DNA testing is a requirement per the United states government. We coordinate all services for parentage testing.
	When the child(ren) leave(s) Guatemala the status is a full adoption. No post-placement reports are required for Guatemala.
	We do require a short self report, by adoptive, parents and a few photos about six months after the family arrives home with their child.
